From unexpected change to puposeful growth
What started as an unexpected step grew into a career full of growth, discoveries, and fulfillment. In over 7 years at KPN, I’ve developed myself, seized opportunities, and contributed to initiatives that truly matter.
How it started..
I've now been working at KPN for over 7 years. My start was unexpected: I was transferred from Verizon, where I worked on the ABN AMRO client team. Although it wasn’t my own choice at the time, I’m incredibly grateful for that move in hindsight. Within KPN, I discovered a world full of opportunities and room for growth.
My career truly took shape through the KPN Career Journey Program. Together with a career coach, I explored my profile and ambitions. Through Friducation Workshops, I came into contact with Security & Compliance and became interested in the work of the CISO department. Thanks to conversations via KPN Match, I applied for a role in the Compliance Monitoring team. I started as a Junior Compliance Officer and have since grown into a Medior Security Risk Manager.

Although it wasn’t my own choice at the time, I’m incredibly grateful for that move in hindsight.
Work atmosphere and balance
Our team has an open and pleasant atmosphere. As a mother of two children (ages 7 and 9), I deeply value the balance between work and home life. KPN offers me the flexibility to combine my professional ambitions with my role at home.
What gives me energy?
Collaborating with colleagues and continuously analyzing and improving processes. Every collaboration offers a chance to make a difference.
Proud of my growth
I’m proud to have grown from a junior to a medior position. That didn’t happen overnight—I had to show what I’m capable of and what I stand for. I also find great satisfaction in contributing to initiatives like Cyber Kids Day, where we raise children’s awareness about digital safety.
Keep learning
I use my Employability Budget (IZB) every year. I’ve taken external courses like the SECO BCM Foundation exam and will soon start the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) training. I’m also part of the Growth Mentoring Program, where an experienced mentor supports me in my development.

Advice to others
Stay open to new opportunities. Sometimes something might not seem like a good fit at first, but a conversation can offer surprising insights. Networking is essential: keep talking, take chances, and don’t let job requirements hold you back. One person who believes in you can make all the difference.
