Your role as DevOps Network Engineer

The NETWORK department ensures that the KPN network meets the latest developments and the wishes of our customers. To be able to comply with this, we are carrying out a digital transformation (virtualization, automation, decoupling). We bring the fixed and mobile KPN network to the newest generation: a network that moves with the wishes of our customers and is ready for the future.
You will work together with international colleagues from KPN and its partners. This provides a dynamic, energetic work and learning environment for you and the future of KPN to grow.

In our organization, innovation (Dev) and operation (Ops) are brought together, and the DevOps operational model and culture is applied. This requires the following from you:

You feel responsible for the innovation of your product while at the same time realizing the safety, availability, and quality of your product 24/7. You will participate in on-call services if needed to ensure desired quality levels.
You are open to other points of view, you actively contribute to good cooperation (in the chain) and you remain in constant dialogue about the shared goals.
You can handle multiple, complex processes simultaneously and can combine both innovation and operational tasks and you understand the importance of the provided service.
You can give advice and share knowledge within and outside your team.

The Fixed Networks is part of TDO Network. You will work for and with the complete Fixed IP Transport to design, manage, and support our core networks and internet traffic of the various KPN entities and we indirectly support our KPN end customers with their network needs. To ensure an optimized end-user experience for KPN services, we continuously look for the best internet connectivity with our peering partners.

What will you bring us?

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer who also has experience working in a DevOps organizational model. You are a result-oriented personality and always ambitious to go the extra mile. In a challenging environment, you easily share your knowledge with colleagues, and you learn from each other’s expertise.

You have:

HBO working and thinking level.
Extensive experience in network engineering in the field of design, testing, and operations.
Detailed knowledge of networking in routing & switching, TCP/IP stack, and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, DHCP, IPv6, and EVPN. preferably knowledge of Nokia, Cisco, and, Juniper.
Proven experience with Python, passion for programming, and ability to learn new languages.
Good understanding of automation with tools in a Test-automation pipeline like Ansible, Docker, Jenkins.
Good knowledge of network security methodologies.
English language skills both in writing and speech
Solid experience with Carrier grade network equipment and IP Networking in a telecom operator, & understanding of Service Provider Technologies
Knowledge of the internet landscape (add point 2), including transit providers, peering, internet exchanges, and experience with internet registries (such as RIPE).
Experience with (traffic) engineering, configuration, and operation of MPLS and BGP re-routings.
Agile Mindset and knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, and other Agile working methods.

A gross monthly salary ranging from a minimum of €4.499,- to a maximum of € 6.582,- based on a 40-hour work week, offcourse depending on your work experience,
Flexible working hours up to 40 hours per week, potentially increasing your gross salary by up to 8.5%.
A 10.5% allowance on your gross monthly salary (including 8% holiday pay).
A variable bonus scheme of 7% corresponding to scale 10.
Annual individual and collective salary increases in accordance with our CAO.

A commuting allowance: such as our bicycle allowance of €0.40 per kilometer, or €0.23 per kilometer by car, or full reimbursement for 2nd class public transport. Additionally, you will receive a €10 monthly internet allowance and a home work allowance of €2.35 per day.
Excellent pension conditions: a total contribution of 23% of your pensionable salary, with KPN contributing 16% and you contributing 7%.
