Your role as Ethical Hacker

In this role you look at systems and networks from the perspective of an attacker. You think about how weaknesses can be exploited both physically and digitally. You have a passion for CTFs, (code) puzzles and spend your free time reverse engineering binaries or playing games like HackTheBox. You will collaborate with other departments within the organization, for example with awareness training, assisting CERT with security incidents and risk assessments regarding geopolitics. You will participate in testing and security efforts of KPN and its interests.

A selection of your activities:

  • Mapping risks by investigating and attacking systems, networks and applications.
  • Carrying out attacks and providing insight into risks for other departments, followed by providing advice.
  • Continuously learning about new techniques and vulnerabilities.
  • Sharing knowledge about your expertise and applying your wisdom to make a difference.

As an Ethical Hacker at KPN CISO you will become part of a small team of dedicated and autonomous individuals. What will you bring us?

To be successful in this role, you need at least:

  • Adequate knowledge of current attack methodologies and techniques.
  • Experience developing tools for automating certain tasks.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • At least two years of experience as a penetration tester.
  • Passion for CTFs, (code) puzzles and experience with reverse engineering of binaries.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Linux systems, and Windows/Powershell.
  • Knowledge of OWASP, NIST, and CIS is helpful.
  • Skills in mobile app security, cloud security, hacking of physical devices, and wireless communications protocols are a plus, but not required. However, a willingness to learn more about these topics is an implicit requirement.
